“I was waiting on you to get home so I could sleep peacefully. You know I hate when you’re out late,” she answered truthfully.

“I told you that you have nothing to worry about. I’m good,” he said as he undressed to hop in the shower real quick.

Dream watched him as he disappeared into the bathroom. Carmelo stood in the shower with his head under the water. He felt a cool breeze, then arms wrap around him. He turned to find Dream hugging his waist.

“Can I wash you up?” she asked.

  “Be my guest,” he said.

Dream grabbed his rag and poured his AXE body wash on it. She slowly began to wash his body, starting with his broad shoulders then she worked her way down his back. After washing the back of him, he turned so she could get the front. Dream wasn’t surprised to see that Carmelo’s dick was hard and standing at attention.

She took the rag and washed his chest then his abs. Before she could even get low enough to wash his dick, he was pushing her to the back of the shower.

“Mel…” she tried to speak, but he pressed his lips against hers, silencing her.

He picked her up and eased her down on his dick. Dream let out a low moan as she wrapped her legs around his waist. He slowly began pumping in and out of her. Dream dropped his rag on the shower floor and dug her nails into his back.

“I love you,” Melo whispered in her ear.

“Uhh, I love you too,” she moaned.

“You gon stop worrying about me?” he asked.

“No, I worry about you because I want you to always come back to me,” Dream said as she felt hot tears come down her face. “Don’t leave me Melo. Promise me you won’t leave me,” she cried.

Carmelo hated to see Dream cry. He wanted to promise her that he wouldn’t leave her, but he knew with the life he lived, there was no telling when it would be his time to go. Ignoring her request, he pumped in and out of her quicker while trying not to slip and fall and kissing her tears away.

Dream wasn’t dumb. She knew that Carmelo didn’t tell her that he wouldn’t leave her. Instead of asking him again, she buried her head in his chest. She dug her nails deeper in her back as he continued to hit her spot over and over. He grunted while Dream hollered out as the two came together.

The two quickly washed up before climbing out of the shower. Dream was quiet as they got ready for bed. When they laid down, Carmelo pulled her close to him and wrapped his arm around her tightly while kissing her neck.

“I promise I will never leave you. I love you,” he said before closing his eyes.

Dream went to sleep at ease and with a smile on her face.

The next day Carmelo, Dream and Summer started their day early. Dream headed to her shop to finishing getting things in order for her grand opening, Summer went to spend time with her grandmother and Carmelo found himself sitting in the backroom of one of his traps in deep thought. Between crazy ass Chrissy calling his phone non-stop with idle threats, his ongoing issues with Shaq, Caiden acting like a bitch, and building with Dream, he was spent and physically exhausted. If it wasn’t one thing, it definitely was another. He couldn’t let his personal issues get in the way of business if he wanted to keep money coming in the way it was.

  Buzz… Buzz… Buzz

The vibration in his pocket took his mind off his problems temporarily. He slid the phone out his front pocket and slid to answer without looking to see who was calling.

“What’s up?” Melo said into the receiver.

“My money maker. I’m in the states and need to see you.” Automatically, Carmelo recognized the voice of his connect, Nigel.

“Where and what time?” Melo asked.

“Now, and you pick the place. This is your territory,” Nigel stated.

Melo thought for a minute of a secluded place he could meet Nigeln. Almost instantly, the perfect place came to mind.

“Aight, I’m going to text you the address. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”

“See you then,” Nigel said before ending the call.

Melo stood too his feet and headed toward the front of the house so he could make his way to Queens.

“Melo, man, what up?” He was stopped in the living room by Andre, or lil’ Dre, as Melo liked to call him.

“What up, lil’ Dre? When you got out here?”

“I just came. I was looking for you. They told me you were in the back so I just figured I’d wait till you came out,” Dre said.

“Aight, walk with me to the car and let me know what’s on your mind,” Melo said as he opened the front door.

Side by side they walked out the house and up the block toward Carmelo’s truck.

  “So what’ up?”

“Melo, you told me as long I stayed in school and handled business, you would let me step up and start doing some other shit. I’m ready. You trained me well and I have mad faith in my skills Melo. You gotta put me out there and let me put in work.”

Almost instantly, Carmelo wanted to agree with Dre and grant his wish of giving him more work. However, just as he was about to agree with it, the thoughts of his dream hit him like a bag of bricks. He remembered vividly Dre getting shot and how he felt when he heard the news. Even though it was a dream, that was one part of the dream he didn’t want to become reality.

“Yea, Dre, I agree. You probably are ready, but I want you to take it easy, man. Keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t think this is me wanting to hold you back. It’s more to it than that. I’ll up your pay if you keep doing what it is you do and staying off the street,” Melo said.

“It ain’t about the money though, Melo. You been good to me. I just wanna earn my spot on the team, that’s all,” Dre pleaded.

“You’ve proven to me that you belong here. Just give me more time, Dre. I look at you like a little brother man. I don’t want nothing to happen to you. Take your raise and let me think on it,” Melo said as he climbed into his truck. He rolled the window down and yelled out, “We’ll talk more about it later. I gotta get low,” he said before pulling out his parking spot and heading to meet Nelson.

Carmelo pulled up to his secret spot out in Long Island City. No one knew about the spot, not even Caiden, Summer, or Dream, and he planned on keeping it that way. Not only was it where he kept mostly all of his paper, it was the one house he wanted to always be a safe haven besides the crib in Staten Island. Getting to Queens is way faster and more convenient than getting to Staten Island in case of an emergency. Soon or later, he would tell Summer and Dream about the spot; but for now it had to stay a secret. He killed the engine of his truck and stepped out. He felt someone grilling him, which forced him to turn around and that when he spotted the black Tahoe with limousine tints.

Off instinct, Melo reached for his gun. The window of the Tahoe slowly rolled down, revealing the driver. Noticing it was Nigel’s driver, he let out a sigh and moved his hand away from his gun. He waved them over before turning and letting himself in the house. Minutes later, he was joined by Nigel and four heavily armed guards.

“What up ya’ll?” Melo said unfazed by the sumo wrestler look-a-likes with the heavy artillery.

“Melo, Melo… I’m glad to see that little set back didn’t keep you down too long. You bounced back like things never happened,” Nigel said as he took a seat on the lazy boy.

“You know me, Nigel. I get it done by any means.”

Nigel nodded. “Indeed I do. Which is why I am here. I have a little proposition for you that may require you the need to think on it. I’m cool with that, but I need an answer in the next few days, in case you decline my offer I got to line someone else up to take on the job. You’re my most loyal client, so I’m coming to you first.”

Melo looked on without saying a word. He was waiting for Nigel to get to the point and let him know what was what.

“I’m going to leave London within the next few weeks. Got to head back to my country to handle some personal things, b
ut I can’t leave my business there to anyone. All the men I trust with everything are set up in their own spots and aren’t in any positions to leave their business either. I know you have men here who can hold it down for you while you head to London and take things on for me. It would be just for a few months. Trust me, the compensation will outweigh the headache of having to up and move to another country,” Nigel explained.

“I’m honored that you would consider me for the job, Nigel.”

“I feel a but coming on,” Nigel said.

“I got to think about it. Making a decision like this doesn’t just affect me. My girl is here, my niece still in school and shit. Just give me a day or two. Imma discuss it with my girl and we can take it from there. I can’t make such a drastic decision without kicking it with her about it since it will very much so affect her in every way.”

Nigel stood to his feet and extended his hand to shake with Carmelo. Melo returned the gesture and the two men shook on it.

“I respect that, Melo. I didn’t expect you to make this decision without running it by your family. Just keep in mind, timing is imperative. I gotta know in the next few days. If you can’t make the move, nothing changes. I understand. Just let me know,” Nigel said before signaling his dudes that he was ready to go.

Nigel was a man of very few words and even less socializing. He said what it was he needed to say, heard Melo’s thoughts and that was that. That was one of the things Carmelo liked about him. He was to the point and ready to move on. Carmelo didn’t want to sit there dwelling on the situation, so once Nigel and his goons were gone, he jumped in his truck and headed to Dream. He knew that she wasn’t home since the grand opening of her shop was coming up, so he headed to the city, to check her at her store.

  Chapter Twenty

Dream was fixing up stuff around the boutique, getting ready for the grand opening. The grand opening was only four days away and she was getting nervous. She kept looking at the racks and over her fabrics to make sure that everything was in order.

She heard the door opening and looked in that direction with a big smile on her face. Carmelo walked in looking good enough to eat even though he was dressed down in a simple back V-neck t-shirt, dark denim jeans and the latest Jordans on his feet with his fitted hat low over his eyes.

  “Hey, sexy,” she greeted him.

“What’s up?” he said as he kissed her lips.

“What you doing in these parts?” Dream asked.

“I came to see you,” he said.

“Oh yea? What, you miss me?” she asked as she took his hat off his head and put it on while gazing into his low red eyes.

“Hell yea,” he said as he looked around the boutique. “This shit looks nice, but there’s one thing you have to do before the grand opening,” he said before licking his lips.

“What?” she asked, confused as he took her hand and led her to the back where her office was located.

“We gotta christen it,” he smiled devilishly.

“Christen it? Melo, what…” her voice faded out when she realized what he was talking about. “You are so nasty,” he laughed.

“You ain’t seen nasty yet,” he said as he locked her door and sat her on the desk.

He pulled her dress over her ass while Dream unbuckled his jeans. She stuck her tongue out and did a little dance while his jeans hit the floor. Carmelo paused and looked at her funny.

“Yo, what the hell is that?” he laughed.

“That’s my ‘I’m about to get some dick’ dance.” Dream laughed.

“Oh, but I’m nasty?” he asked as she pulled his dick from his boxers.

“You made me this way. I’m a good girl gone bad.” She smirked.

Carmelo placed his dick at her opening, but Dream stopped him.

“Sit in the chair,” she demanded.

Not arguing with her, he did as he was told as he sat in her chair that was behind her desk. Dream got down from her desk and walked over to him, pulling her dress all the way off and grabbing his dick. She straddled him before easing down on him.

  “Shit,” she cussed.

“Uhn huh, ride that shit!” Carmelo said as he slapped her ass hard.

“Ouch, nigga,” she chuckled as she hit him in his chest.

Carmelo grabbed Dream’s waist as he guided her up and down on his dick. He had to bite his lip to keep himself from hollering out like a little bitch. She was so wet and tight that he felt like he was about to bust already. Getting into the groove, Dream picked up her speed. Carmelo’s eyes rolled to the back of his head as his head fell back.

  “Fuck,” he yelled.

He had to switch positions before he came prematurely.

  “Get up,” he said.

  “Huh?” Dream asked, confused.

“Raise up real quick,” he said.

Doing as she was told, Dream got up. Before she could utter a word, Carmelo bent her over the desk and insert himself back inside her. Carmelo trailed kissing down her spine while pounding in and out of her viciously.

  “Melo, wait,” Dream yelled.

Ignoring her, he went faster. Dream started talking in tongues as he hit her spot over and over again. She starting shaking like she was having a seizure and Carmelo smiled to himself as he felt her rain down on him.

“That’s what the fuck I’m talking about,” he said as he slapped her ass.

Dream’s legs gave out and she fell forward on her desk. Carmelo pulled her ponytail and pulled her back up.

  “I didn’t say I was done.”

  “But Melo,” she said weakly.

She had been worn out just that quick. Carmelo was acting like he had a damn Energizer bunny on his back and she was wondering what the hell had gotten into him. Finally feeling himself about to explode, he grabbed her hips and held still while he emptied his seeds in her.

He fell back into the seat like he was tired. He watched as Dream grabbed her dress off the ground. He pulled his pants and boxers back up and noticed Dream looking at him like he was crazy.

  “What?” he asked.

“What the hell as gotten into you?” she asked.

He shrugged. “I told you I missed you.”

“I bet,” Dream laughed as she shook her head.

“I gotta talk to you about something,” Melo said, remembering the reason why he showed up at her shop in the first place.

“I knew it was something. What happened, Carmelo?” Dream said as she continued to fix her clothes.

He took a deep breath then came straight out with it. He told Dream everything Nelson said to him and also told her how he felt about it. He promised her he would start putting her feelings and concerns first so that’s what he was doing.

“Wow, I mean this is something you have to do, right?” Dream asked once Melo was done with his spiel.

“I don’t have to do anything, but is it something I want to do? Yea, it’s more money. But I don’t want to be away from you and Summer. Of course, I would take you along with me but you about to get shit popping with your shop. I wouldn’t want to throw a monkey wrench in your plans like that,” Melo explained.

“Well, the timing is bad, Carmelo. Just like you don’t want to mess up my plans, I don’t want to mess up yours, but I might be…” Dream caught herself before she told him that she thought she was pregnant. She hadn’t had her period in a while, and all the other pregnancy symptoms were there. She could have easily told him that she thought she was, but she didn’t want his reasons to stay to be because of a baby. She wanted his reason to be because he really just wanted to be with her. Not to mention she would have hated to tell him that she was only to find out that she really wasn’t.

“You might be what, Dream?” Melo asked

“Nothing, Melo. I’m going to be honest. I don’t want you to go. If my store was off the ground and running, I wouldn’t mind following you to London, but it’s not and this is important to me. With that said, if you want to go, I’m not going to hold you back.
I love you enough and respect your grind enough to let you do what you have to do. I’ll worry, but we’ll be okay and will be here when you get back,” Dream said.

  “We?”

“Yea, you know, your mom, Summer and I,” Dream said.

Carmelo looked at her sideways and gave her a once over. His eyes landed on her midsection and he allowed it to linger there for a moment. He knew that there was something different about her. She had even put on a few pounds, not too much but a little. He just knew that she wouldn’t keep a pregnancy from him.

Carmelo knew something was up, and knew he had to stick around to find out.

“Nah, I’m not going. Everyone I love is right here. This is where I need to be,” Melo said before pulling Dream into him and kissing her. “Get back to work though. I’ll see you when you get home tonight. I’m even going to attempt to make your favorite food. Let’s hope I don’t burn the house down,” he laughed.

Dream joined him. “Babe, don’t. I’ll cook when I get home. I should be wrapping it up here in a few anyway.”

Carmelo agreed only so she wouldn’t debate. He still had plans on going home and cooking for his lady. If worse came to worse, he would make Summer come over and help him.

  Chapter Twenty-One

The day of Dream’s grand opening had finally arrived. Carmelo pulled up to Dream’s store with Dream looking nervously out the window of the passenger side and Summer in the backseat singing along to Beyoncé’s “Partition.” He had a spot reserved right out front of the shop so that he wouldn’t have to drive around looking for parking. He killed the engine and snapped his neck back as Summer sang one of the most vulgar lines in the song.

“Beyoncé going to get you in trouble, Sum. Keep singing that shit,” Melo said.

“Uncle Melo, stop. It’s just a song,” Summer laughed. “Dream, why you so quiet? Look at the line to get in your shop. You should be jumping for joy.”

“I’m nervous. What if people hate my store? I put everything into this boutique. I just want people to love it,” Dream said.

“That’s the reason why you have nothing to worry about. People are going to love the store and your designs just as much as I do. Especially once I announce that I’m rocking something from your collection,” Summer said to reassure her.
